Multiple agencies looking for missing kayaker

The Sheriff’s Office was notified at 9:16 a.m. Friday of a kayaker overdue out of Stock Island Yacht Club & Marina.

The single male, identified as 38-year-old Licheng Fang of Santa Clara County, California, was last seen between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday near the Yacht Club. His girlfriend, the reporting person, stated Fang left for a short, solo kayak trip Thursday night did not return.

The Sheriff’s Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews and U.S. Coast Guard boats launched Friday morning.

Fang was last seen on a 12-foot, blue/white, double-seated Perception Tribe kayak. He was wearing a white shirt and gray shorts. Fang is 5-foot-8 and of medium build. Fang does not have his cell phone with him.

Fang had not been located as of Friday evening.

All, particularly mariners, are asked to call 911 or contact the U.S. Coast Guard on VHF Channel 16 for any information regarding Fang’s location.
