Motorist charged with illegal firearm possession

A 37-year-old Key West man with a warrant for domestic battery was arrested Friday for illegal firearm possession.

Dwayne Livingston Ritchie was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon.

The Sheriff’s Office received information at approximately 2:15 a.m. that a purple Hyundai may be in the Florida Keys operated by a suspect, Ritchie, with an arrest warrant.

Deputy Michael Onsgard stopped the vehicle near Mile Marker 54.

A loaded 9mm handgun was found in the console.

Ritchie was taken to jail.

Ritchie has served time in state prison for multiple drug-related convictions in Monroe County.


Two cited for wildlife violations

Two Miami-Dade County men were given mandatory notice to appear in court citations for possessing illegally harvested fish on Saturday.

Deputy Ana Coello was patrolling the Channel 2 Bridge at approximately 10:48 a.m. when she inspected a cooler being used by Jenry Ramos Bravo, 23, of Hialeah Gardens and Rubenlier Hernandez, 21, of Hialeah.

There were two undersized black groupers and an undersized mutton snapper in the cooler. The bag limit for black grouper is one.

Hernandez admitted to catching the mutton snapper and Ramos Bravo admitted to catching the groupers.

All the fish were returned to the water dead.
