Monroe Promoted to Vice President

First State Bank is proud to announce the promotion of Michael Monroe to Vice President, Portfolio Manager.

Monroe joined First State Bank in 2005 as a Credit Coordinator and progressed steadily with promotions  to Credit Analyst in 2006, Credit Analyst II in 2007, Credit Manager in 2009, and AVP/Credit Assistant Manager in 2010 before becoming AVP/Portfolio Manager/System Administrator in 2016.

“Michael is always willing to assist or take the lead on projects,” said Gary Carney, EVP/Chief Credit Officer. “He has led the implementation of more efficient commercial lending platforms and his advanced research capabilities and proficiency are valuable assets to the Bank. We are pleased to recognize him with this well-earned promotion.”

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C., and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Louisiana State University.
