Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Donates $5,000 to Support Scenic Highway Cleanup Efforts

Monroe County, FL – The Florida Keys Scenic Corridor Alliance (FKSCA) is proud to recognize and thank Sheriff Rick Ramsay and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for their generous $5,000 donation to support the Alliance’s ongoing efforts to maintain and beautify the Florida Keys Scenic Highway.

The donation will be used to purchase safety and cleanup gear for volunteers, including custom high-visibility vests, bright orange logo hats, and litter grabbers—affectionately referred to as “picker upper thingies”—to assist in organized highway cleanups throughout the Keys.

Sheriff Ramsay has long been a vocal advocate for keeping the Florida Keys safe, clean, and connected. His commitment to community partnerships and environmental stewardship makes a meaningful impact on the region, and this latest show of support exemplifies his dedication.

“The Florida Keys Scenic Corridor Alliance is incredibly grateful for this support,” said Julie Cheon, FKSCA secretary. “Sheriff Ramsay’s contribution not only helps us keep the scenic highway beautiful and safe, but also energizes our volunteers and reinforces the community spirit that defines the Florida Keys.”

Established in 2007, the Florida Keys Scenic Corridor Alliance serves as the corridor management entity for the Florida Keys Scenic Highway. The Alliance’s mission is to enhance the scenic image of the Florida Keys, preserve its unique heritage and cultural diversity, and promote the natural beauty that draws visitors from around the world.
