MONROE COUNTY SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT SHOWS SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS AND SUPPORT STAFF DURING APPRECIATION WEEK

MONROE COUNTY, Fla.  – It is my pleasure to have the opportunity to thank the teachers, nurses, and cafeteria personnel throughout the Monroe County School District for their talents, dedication and passion to serve our students.  It is this commitment to students that we celebrate during a week honoring the people who contribute to their success.

Teachers are strategic partners in the development of confident, critically thinking students. This past year we witnessed firsthand, teacher contributions to student success beyond the classroom. Your dedication to the growth and achievement of our students provides a foundation for them to continue to choose learning as a life-long goal. You are and have continued to be the “first responders” for our students, especially in the wake of Hurricane Irma this school year. Your facilitation of access to resources and essentials for our students in need has been critical in maintaining student motivation.

We are also grateful for the care our school nurses and cafeteria personnel have provided to our students during a challenging year. Student health and safety is a top priority in the district. Thank you for attending to the needs of not just our students, but our families. Both our nurses and cafeteria personnel have been vital in serving our students and their families free meals and free clinical services.

Thank you for working tirelessly to ensure the students learn in a safe and inclusive environment. It is your continued support and dedication that makes it easy for students to make healthy choices.  The uniqueness of the keys brings challenges to learning that you all have graciously accepted and found creative ways to overcome throughout the process of educating our students.

Within the past three years, we have seen an increase in retention and graduation rates, which further emphasizes the students’ confidence in the choice to learn. Without you, the task to “Chart the Course” to excellence for our students would be virtually unobtainable. It is with your direction, that our students can begin to see just how important it is to use the teaching and learning tools you bestow upon them as a way to tap into their individual maps for success.

As Superintendent of the Monroe County School District, I am truly grateful to the staff of teachers, to you, for ensuring that every student served sees the resources that best suit their needs.
