WHAT: Board members plan to meet for a workshop and regular meeting.

Board members will workshop the Monroe County School District 2018-2019 Mental Health Plan and the 2017-2018 State Assessment Results.

The Mental Health Plan will cover the academic, administrative and social support the district plans to provide for the new school year for personnel and students. Superintendent Mark Porter said hiring staff is a part of the plan. Mr. Porter also said implementing and integrating more opportunities to collaborate will also contribute to the plan’s success. “We have organizations like The Guidance Care Center, Keysbridge Counseling and AHEC to contribute to the medical support. Our Teaching and Learning team, led by Executive Director Theresa Axford, has also identified areas in the curriculum to include supplemental support via programs like the University of South Florida’s Positive Behavioral Support and the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.”

Executive Director of Assessment and Accountability Dr. David Murphy also plans to discuss the raw data from this school year’s assessments the Florida Department of Education released June 14th. Dr. Murphy said the FDOE is expected to release district grades by the end of the month.

School Board Members plan to vote on six items, including the Monroe County School District 2018 Mental Health Plan, a final guaranteed maximum price contract with Ajax Building Corporation for Stanley Switlik Elementary School, the Interscholastic Athletics Alcohol and Drug Testing policy, and three revised job descriptions.
