MONROE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICIALS HOST TITLE I FAMILY ACADEMIC DAY IN BAYVIEW PARK

WHO:   Title I Office, Exceptional Student Education, Community and District Partners; the Public

WHAT: The Title I Office, in collaboration with Exceptional Student Education, presents Family Community Academic Day. This school event in Bayview Park, in collaboration with the Farmer’s Market, will provide information and resources to families with students in Title I schools in the Lower Keys. The Monroe County School District hopes to make connections with residents in the community, and provide information and awareness about the Title I and ESE programs.

WHEN: Saturday, August 26th, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

WHERE: Bayview Park, 1320 Truman Avenue, Key West, FL 33040

WHY:    Family Engagement Coordinator, Ricky Hamilton said this event is a first for the district.  The Title I and ESE staff hope this project will facilitate closer-knit community efforts between schools. This event fosters awareness and interaction with some of the special programming in the district. “Many of our families may not know how our Title I schools match resources and services to their children.  Coming to the event, gives MCSD and families a chance to get to know one another less formally and outside of the school setting.  There will be many resources and information for parents and there will be giveaways for kids and parents alike.  The public library is hosting games and crafts during the event,” Mr. Hamilton said.
