MONROE COUNTY PARTNERS WITH CITY OF KEY WEST TO PROVIDE FREE MOBILE PUMP-OUT SERVICES IN THE KEY WEST AND STOCK ISLAND AREA

MONROE COUNTY, FL – At last night’s City of Key West commission meeting, the commissioners voted to partner with Monroe County to provide temporary mobile vessel pump-out services for free to boaters in the following anchorages: Wisteria, Fleming, Seaplane Basin, Cow Key Channel and Boca Chica Basin. Services are anticipated to start in mid-August and continue while the county continues to seek a new vendor to provide long-term mobile pump-out services to vessels anchored throughout the Florida Keys.

Boaters interested in receiving this service must register at www.monroecounty-fl.gov/pumpout or by filling out a registration form available at the Garrison Bight or Key West Bight marina offices.

Sewage discharges from vessels are prohibited within the boundaries of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Participation in the Monroe County Mobile Vessel Pump-out Service assists anchored boaters in complying with the no-discharge regulation and the Monroe County Proof of Pump-out requirement. Several shoreside pump-out stations are also available throughout Monroe County. A list of available facilities can be found at www.monroecounty-fl.gov/pumpout.
