Washington, D.C. (January 9, 2023)

The Experiment in International Living ( invites Monroe County, FL, high school students to apply for an exclusive 50 percent off Monroe County Scholarship. Students who are accepted will receive 50 percent off to study abroad this summer on one of the Experiment’s programs around the globe. The application deadline is on January 20, 2023.

This marks the sixth year The Experiment has offered an exclusive scholarship for Monroe County, offering a range of scholarships and financial aid to recipients.

Last summer 2022 three Monroe County students received the Monroe County Scholarship, plus 8 students who enrolled through Take Stock in Children received full scholarships to participate with funding provided by the Monroe County Educational Foundation and The Experiment. Summer 2022 was the first summer of travel programs since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Participating in an Experiment program has been a transformational experience for so many students in Monroe County, providing an opportunity for them to be immersed in another culture and learn what it means to be a young leader in today’s global world, said Christina Thomas, divisional vice president of The Experiment in International Living and youth exchanges at World Learning.

It also helps with college applications and many students even identify their future fields of study. Additionally, we have programs offering academic credit, so students can earn college credit before beginning college or university.”

Scholarship recipients will receive a certificate of recognition from The Experiment in International Living.
