MONROE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE PARTICIPATES IN 38 STORY ‘FIGHT FOR AIR’ CLIMB IN MIAMI

MIAMI, FL – Fourteen Monroe County Fire Rescue firefighters, two Trauma Star flight nurses, and five family members participated in the “Fight For Air” Climb Saturday in Miami. They climbed 38 stories in bunker gear and air packs to raise money for the American Lung Association. This is the seventh year MCFR has participated in the event.

This year, the group climbed in honor of Firefighter Foster’s dad Rick Wires and Lieutenant Vandervoort’s mom Sherie West, who both died from lung cancer last month. They made custom helmet shields with their names on them and wore them for the climb.

Flight nurse Heidi McKaige also placed first in the first responder, non-firefighter category.
