Monroe County Emergency Management Hurricane Irma Update – Afternoon

CURFEW

The current curfews for Monroe County will remain in place throughout the weekend. The curfew is 10 p.m. to sunrise in the Upper Keys and Middle Keys to the Seven Mile Bridge. The curfew is dusk to dawn in the Lower Keys where the damage is the most severe and conditions are still unsafe and for security reasons.

In Key West, the curfew now is midnight to sunrise until further notice.

TOURISM

Key West reports that it plans to resume limited tourism on Sunday with the arrival of a cruise ship at noon at the Margaritaville Pier. The rest of the Keys still is not ready for tourism.

DEBRIS REMOVAL

Key West reports it has hauled away nearly 13,500 cubic yards of debris in the city so far.

WATER

The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority reports it has restored water 24/7 to all households in the Keys that have functioning lines from their house.

The boil water notice now has been lifted from the county line to mile marker 84 (Whale Harbor Bridge), with the exception of Plantation Lake Estates and Sunset Park.

POWER

Florida Keys Electric Coop reports is mutual aid crews will be leaving Monday and operations will be back to normal on Monday. It has restored power to 100 percent of its customers who can receive power.

Keys Energy Services reports it has restored power to 84 percent of its customers, with crews working steadily to continue the restoration in the hardest hit parts of the County.
