MONROE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HURRICANE IRMA RECOVERY UPDATE

CURFEW

The City of Key West has lifted its curfew, effective Saturday, Sept. 23. Through the weekend, the curfew in the rest of the Keys remains in place as follows for security and safety reasons:
* Upper and Middle Keys (to 7 Mile Bridge): 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.
* Lower Keys (7 Mile Bridge to Stock Island): 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

LIBRARIES

Monroe County will open three of its five library branches on Monday. They are the branches in Key Largo, Islamorada and Big Pine Key. The branches in Key West and Marathon are being evaluated for damage.

SNAKE CREEK DRAWBRIDGE

On Monday, Sept. 25, Snake Creek Drawbridge in Tavernier resumes regular operations for openings for mariners.

WATER

The Boil Water Notice has been lifted in the Keys with the Exception of the following areas:

Lower Key

  • Sunset Key
  • Cudjoe Key
  • Ramrod Key
  • Summerland Key
  • Little Torch Key
  • Long Beach Road on Big Pine Key

 

Middle Keys

  • Sombrero and Flamingo area of Marathon
  • Coco Plum Subdivision in Marathon
  • Grassy Key
  • Conch Key
  • Coral Key
  • Outdoor Resorts

 

Upper Keys

  • Ocean Lane (MM 82.5)
  • Sunset Park Subdivision
  • Sunset Drive (MM 74.2)

The official water restrictions have been lifted in Monroe County regarding use of Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority-provided water. Residents and business owners now are allowed to use FKAA water to clean the salt and grime off cars, houses, boats and the like, However, the FKAA asks that people conserve water as much as possible to prevent overburdening the system.
