Mistys Bring Holiday Magic to Disney

The Key West High School (KWHS) choir group leaves on December 30th for Orlando to add to the sounds of angelic songs wafting through the air at the happiest place on earth, Disney World. 

“I’m very proud of them, very honored that they get to sing at the most amazing show at Disney,” states KWHS choir director James Carter.

Rileigh Cullum, an alto in the KWHS choir, the Mistys, remarks on her past experience attending this display of their harmonious talent: the Christmas Candlelight Ceremony, “I went last year, and it was a blast. The singing part was amazing. The parks were so much fun, too.”

This is a great experience for young adolescents to showcase their voices in a fun and exciting way. It opens them up to a whole world of performances that could alter the course of each student’s life.

Also, the parks are a worthwhile perk after what can be a nerve wracking experience of performance. “I did enjoy [all of] it a lot,” notes Cullum.

Feelings of anxiety and immense excitement intertwine together to create the many emotions that bubble up inside when performing.

“My hope for this upcoming performance is that we don’t mess up any of our songs and that I don’t fall off the stage because I have been known to be very clumsy,” laughs Cullum.

They will be singing a variety of 12 traditional Christmas songs such as “Away in a Manger.” 

According to Cullum, the singing and music are incredible aspects of choir, but the friendships she has made through these experiences have been priceless. “My best memory of choir is making amazing friends and lasting relationships,” she notes.

The joys of music brought by the Mistys can forge relationships, which last a lifetime and their songs will bring happiness to each listener’s heart. Music can even change a soul and bring it into a bright new future. The KWHS Misty’s performance in the cheerful world of Disney, will be sure to add some holiday magic and cheer.
