MONROE COUNTY, FL – Last week, Monroe County Mayor Pro Tem Michelle Coldiron was elected to the Executive Committee representing District 5 in the Small County Coalition at their annual business meeting. District 5 is the southern region of the coalition and consists of Charlotte, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Hardee, Highlands, Indian River, Okeechobee, Martin, and Monroe counties. The Small County Coalition consists of 39 of the 67 counties in the State of Florida. Small counties are defined by the coalition as 150,000 people or less. Monroe County is around 75,000 per the last U.S. Census. Coldiron will hold the position for two years.

“It is an honor to be elected as the representative for the southern region,” said Coldiron. “This non-partisan statewide alliance will help Monroe County and other small and rural counties in the southern region continue to be represented in Tallahassee.”
