MAYOR COLDIRON TO SPEAK

Key West, FL – June 18, 2021 – The Lower Keys League of Women Voters is pleased to announce a webinar featuring Monroe County Mayor Michelle Coldiron who will speak on The Challenges of Being a Woman Working in Government. She will also provide an update on the pulse of the county and the state.

A Q&A with Mayor Coldiron and Lower Keys League president Marge Holtz will follow the presentation.

Mayor Coldiron was elected and sworn in as mayor in November 2020.  Prior to her election as mayor, she served on the City Council of Marathon for three years and as mayor of Marathon for one year. In November 2018, she was elected to the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners for District 2.

Mayor Coldiron is a member of the South Florida Regional Council, the National Association of Counties and its Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee, a member of the Florida Association of Counties and an elected member of the Small County Coalition Executive Committee. She also an appointed serves on the Board of Directors for the Area Health Education Center.

The mayor has been a full-time Keys resident since 1999. She is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a degree in psychology. Mayor Coldiron is deeply concerned with the welfare of children and worked as a Child Advocate Coordinator for Florida’s Guardian Ad Litem Program, and she remains an active member of Take Stock in Children.
