Human Powered Art Sculptures Are Coming! Papio’s Kinetic Sculpture Parade debuts in Downtown Key West in May 2016. The Key West Art & Historical Society presents this family friendly, art-inspired, human powered, float parade through downtown Key West. May 16th (Mon) – Free HAZWOPER Training
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training sessions will be offered by the U.S. Coast Guard, USCG Auxiliary and Monroe County Emergency Management in Key West on May 16 at the Eco Discovery Center, 35 E. Quay Road; on June 7 at the Marathon Fire Station, 8900 Overseas Highway; and on July 25 at the Key Largo Library, 101485 Overseas Highway. May 19th (Thurs) – Medicinal Native Plants Talk
The Key West Tropical Forest will host a presentation by Constance N. Miller on medicinal uses of native plants of the Florida Keys and the Caribbean at 12:30 p.m. on May 19. May 21st (Sat) – Native Plant Sale
Native, rare, and endangered plants will be offered for sale in the Nursery of The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden, 5210 College Road, on Stock Island Saturday, May 21st, from 10 am to Noon. Choose from over 1,500 plants and 150 species of butterfly and bird attracting plants propagated by the volunteers in sizes from one-gallon to 30-gallon pots. Key West Tropical Forest members receive a 15% discount. All proceeds directly benefit the Tropical Forest’s conservation program. May 22nd (Sun) – Southernmost Moonlight Bike Ride
Support Samuel’s House via the 3rd Annual Southernmost Moonlight Bike Ride! Starting at 8pm, we will ride under the beautiful moon from The Marriott Beachside to The Southernmost Beach Cafe. Prize for the Best Costume and Best Bike Decoration. Final sign up is at 7:30 that night. It’s a great event to have a nice lovely right and also raise money. May 28th (Sat) – Unity in the Community Kids Fair and Bike Ride
The Rotary Club of Key West and Wesley House Family Services are hosting the 2nd Annual “Unity in the Community Bike Ride” of which all proceeds generated will go to support dental programs for local children. Don’t forget your TUTUS!!!
Festivities begin at 9:30am at Bayview Park with many booths and activities for children, including face painting and free bike helmet fittings! The bike ride itself kicks off at 11:30am and will meander through Old Town, returning back to Bayview. Upon returning, awards will be presented for the best “dental themed” costumes (so get creative) and a raffle will be held for a Rick Worth painted bike.

June 4th (Sat) – FREE Household Hazardous Waste Collection, 8am-12pm
City of Key West contracts Waste Management to collect Household Chemicals and Electronics from the residents of Key West the first Saturday of each month from 8:00am to Noon at Indigenous Park. Free for the residents of Key West, no businesses material will be accepted.
Accepted: TV’s, computers, gaming systems, VCR’s, remote controls, radios, ear buds, and all other electronics. We are also taking chemicals: Up to 5 gallons of old gas, up to 5 gallons of oil, car fluids, batteries, household cleaners, poisons, fertilizers, pool chemicals, paints, etc. All items should be labeled if possible or bring a list with a inventory. These chemicals and electronics are very harmful to the environment and cause big problems with our drinking water when handled wrong. Never place in a garbage can or on the ground! Bring these products to a responsible waste facility!
June 5th (Sun) – Free Museums on First Sunday
There will be local free admission at these local museums / attractions. A Monroe County ID is required. June 9th (Thurs) – Key West Pride Rainbow Bike Parade
Bring out your costume colors and join the parade! Bikes start from the bandstand at Bayview Park at 6:30pm, tour through Old Town, then up Duval, ending at 801 for the Miss Pride Contest.
Meet at Bayview Park Bandstand.
June 26th (Sat) – Tropical Fruit Fiesta
Located at the newly restored historical tropical fruit oasis Grimal Grove, this family friendly event has everything under one sky: tropical fruit trees for sale, fruit to sample, fruit auctions, information on planting, tending and harvesting your fruit trees, kid’s activities like Mango ice cream making and pineapple planting! Grimal Grove is located at 258 Cunningham Lane in Big Pine Key and will host the Tropical Fruit Fiesta from 9am-2pm.
