Marion Stevens Grant Awarded to The Studios of Key West

The Studios of Key West is the recent recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Marion Stevens Fund at The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys. The check, which was presented to Studios’ board and staff by CFFK board member Michael Ingram, will be used to develop a children’s program at The Studios which benefits troubled or at-risk youth.

The Marion Stevens Fund is named for the well-known Key West philanthropist who passed away in 2000 at the age of 90. Before her passing, she established a trust to benefit local organizations, requesting that it be used to help children.

The grant is dedicated to benefitting children, particularly in the areas of health, education and teen age pregnancy; to support the visual and performing arts; to sustain those persons and groups which strive to abolish discrimination in all of its forms; to advance the cause of those individuals and entities which seek to improve the quality of life for all of us, for humanity and for our future generations.

The Studios has long embraced the goal of breaking down barriers to art and being an integrated part of Key West life. Central to Studios’ community programs are youth education programs in out-of-school settings, presented in collaboration with other institutional partners. The Studios has expanded upon initiatives including a Spring Break art camp at the Douglass Center in Bahama Village, and regular collaborations with the Bahama Village Educators’ Memorial Project.
