Marathon High SWAT Graduates Celebrate Final Club Meeting

Marathon High School SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) youth advocates celebrate graduation and their final club meeting as seniors on May 15. Five of the SWAT youth have been with the club since its inception in 2012.  Through the years, they have assisted with the passage of flavored tobacco resolutions in Marathon, Layton and Key Colony Beach; participated in countless events; and assisted with bringing awareness to the lies and deception that the tobacco industry uses to market to youth.

Participating SWAT youth have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, plan and organize events, work with the media and other community partners across the State of Florida, develop public speaking skills, build their resume, and be involved in an effective state-wide movement working to eliminate tobacco use, the most important public health issue in the world. Any youth interested in participating in the SWAT club can call 305-809-5638.  For more information, visit Monroe.floridahealth.gov.
