Man yelling obscenities in park arrested

A 32-year-old Key West man who was yelling at park visitors and then threatened to kill deputies was arrested Sunday afternoon.

Timothy Matthew Kummer was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, threats against a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with violence and resisting arrest without violence.

The incident began a 6:30 p.m. at Marathon Community Park. Deputies Darren Walraven, Frank Westerband and George Zakariadze went to the park regarding a drunk man who was threatening others. They found Kummer, who appeared very intoxicated. When they asked for identification, he responded with an expletive. He further refused to provide any identification. Deputies found identification in his wallet after detaining and patting him down.

Two witnesses in the park said Kummer was yelling, swearing and acting aggressive. One witness stated this occurred in front her grandchild.

When deputies went to arrest Kummer, he refused to stand up.

He was taken to jail. Once there, he was uncooperative and had to be restrained. It was there that Kummer threatened to kill deputies.
