Man cited in fish case

A 58-year-old Miramar, Florida man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation Monday for possessing over-the-limit schoolmaster snapper, undersized schoolmaster and undersized yellowtail snapper.

Marine Deputy Willie Guerra was conducting resource checks on the Channel Two Bridge at Mile Marker 72.5 when he found Daniel Cleveland Smith to be in possession of 16 undersized schoolmaster snapper, one undersized yellowtail snapper, and one parrotfish. Smith was also over-the-limit for snapper. Smith was given a warning for harvesting a parrotfish, which are an aquarium species and required to be kept alive.

Smith stated he caught all the fish.
