Man cited for undersized fish

A 48-year-old Boynton Beach man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation Tuesday for possessing undersized snappers.

Lower Keys Marine Deputy Ed Swogger stopped a 23-foot center console in the Bahia Honda Channel at approximately 10:20 a.m. for being underway with a dive flag displayed.

Deputy Swogger found one undersized yellowtail snapper and 22 undersized lane snappers in the boat. Yellowtail are required to be 12 inches to harvest and lane snapper are required to be 8 inches.

Andrew John Defilippis was cited for the snapper violations and given a warning for operating the vessel with the dive flag up and for expired flares.
