Man cited for illegal fish

A 48-year-old Homestead, Florida man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation on Friday for possession of undersized and over-the-limit snappers.

Marine Patrol Deputy Willie Guerra was on patrol at approximately 3:54 p.m. near Long Key Bridge when he observed two people walking with a cooler and fishing rods in hand.

Deputy Guerra asked to inspect their catch. There was 20 mangrove snapper, one yellowtail snapper and one mutton snapper.

One of the subjects, Genesis Marrero, stated he was the one who caught the fish.

Deputy Guerra’s inspection revealed Marrero to be in possession of 10 undersized and over-the-limit mangrove snappers, one undersized yellowtail snapper and one undersized mutton snapper.
