Man cited for illegal fish

A 72-year-old Hollywood, Florida man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation Monday for possessing over-the-limit fish.

Deputies Jacob Ladd and Anthony Zito were patrolling Bahia Honda Bridge at approximately 1:42 a.m. when they inspected the catch of Jose Casero. He possessed seven mangrove snapper. The limit is five.

Man arrested for stealing Jeep

A 30-year-old Fort Lauderdale, Florida man was arrested Sunday after stealing a Jeep from a Stock Island marina.

Ross James Lund was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the Hurricane Hole Restaurant, Bar & Marina at approximately 1:30 p.m. regarding a stolen vehicle. The keys had been left inside. Witnesses reported seeing Lund enter the Jeep and leave. Lund told one witness he needed to go to Miami and was inquiring about vehicles in the parking lot.

The Sheriff’s Office spotted the Jeep a short time later northbound on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 29. Lund was the driver/sole occupant. He admitted to stealing the Jeep and was taken into custody without incident.


Motorist arrested on drug charges

A 42-year-old Immokalee, Florida motorist on U.S. 1 was arrested on multiple drug charges as well as a weapons-related violation.

Robert Ramos was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ramos was stopped while driving a Ford pickup truck with an expired tag northbound near Mile Marker 49 at 12:10 a.m. Saturday. There was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the truck.

The following was found:

  • One handgun magazine containing 10 .45-caliber bullets
  • 1.2 grams of methamphetamine
  • 15.5 grams of marijuana
  • One glass pipe
