Man cited for illegal fish

A 74-year-old Hialeah man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation Thursday for possessing over-the-limit snapper.

Deputy Jason Farr was on patrol at approximately 2 p.m. when he saw a vessel heading toward the dock near the Caribbean Club in Key Largo.

The 17-foot Mako had two occupants on board. Deputy Farr conducted a safety and resource check.

One of the occupants, Luis Alfredo Plain, admitted to catching and possessing nine mangrove snapper. The limit is five per harvester.

Plain was cited and four of the mangrove snapper were returned to the water dead.
