Man brandishing gun arrested

A 22-year-old Key Largo man was arrested Sunday after brandishing a gun during a dispute.

Alfredo Alejandro Rivero was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a person 65-years-old or older, battery and battery on a person 65-years-old or older.

Sgt. Gregg Johnson responded to the 85000 block of the Overseas Highway in Islamorada at approximately 4:30 p.m. regarding an armed subject.

He contacted the 67-year-old victim who stated he and Rivero were arguing over the victim’s use of a fish cutting board/cleaning station. Rivero retrieved a pistol and pointed the handgun at the victim. He stated Rivero also pushed him several times.

Sgt. Johnson then spoke to Rivero who stated the victim did not have permission to use his fish cutting board/cleaning station. Rivero admitted to retrieving a Glock pistol during his confrontation with the victim.

A witness corroborated the victim’s version of events.

Rivero was taken to jail.
