Man arrested on gun/drug charges

A 30-year-old Miami, Florida man was arrested Saturday after a loaded handgun and litany of drugs — including Fentanyl — were found following a traffic stop.

Khuslen Saruultuya was charged with trafficking Fentanyl, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of Xanax, Adderall, and Methylphenidate Hydrochloride without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Saruultuya was stopped in a black Dodge Durango on U.S. 1 southbound near Mile Marker 62 at approximately 12:21 a.m. for speeding. A strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle.

The following was found:

  • A loaded 9mm handgun
  • 22.6 grams of Fentanyl-laced cocaine and marijuana
  • 14 methamphetamine capsules
  • 11.5 Adderall pills
  • 5 Xanax pills
  • 2 Methylphenidate Hydrochloride pills
  • 1.2 grams of cocaine mixed with another substance to be tested
  • 46 white pills to be tested

Man arrested for gun and resisting arrest

An intoxicated 38-year-old Islamorada motorist was arrested Saturday after resisting arrest following a domestic incident.

Joshua Lee Spencer was charged with possession of a firearm while being the subject of a domestic violence injunction, contempt of court, resisting arrest with violence, and DUI with property damage.

The incident began when Spencer arrived at a Tavernier residence intoxicated at approximately 4:10 p.m. in violation of the terms of his pre-trial release for a previous battery arrest. The victim stated he left intoxicated in a vehicle and hit a shed while departing. The victim also told the Sheriff’s Office a firearm owned by Spencer was in the residence. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered.

Spencer was found stopped on the side of U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 96. He attempted to pull away from Deputies as he was being placed in custody for DUI following field sobriety exercises. He was shocked with a Taser as he continued to resist arrest. He was taken to Mariners Hospital, where he was medically cleared, and then taken to jail.

Man cited for speared lobster

Thirty-six-year-old Pembroke Pines, Florida man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation on Friday after for spearing a lobster.

Eric Pottinger was stopped by the Sheriff’s Office for diving without a dive flag on the south end of the Toms Harbor Channel Bridge.

He was cited for possession of out-of-season lobster, possession of speared lobster and not having a lobster measuring gauge while harvesting.

Body found off Marathon

A 57-year-old Boot Key Harbor liveaboard was found in the water Friday at approximately 7:53 p.m. by another liveaboard.

The man was identified as James Daniel Hibbard.

There were no signs of foul play.

Autopsy results are pending.
