Man arrested for trafficking cocaine    

A 45-year-old Marathon man was arrested Friday on multiple drug-related charges.

Luis Valdes was charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Valdes was additionally served with four arrest warrants for previous cocaine sales.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives with the Special Investigations Division, the SWAT Team, and Drug Enforcement Administration special agents conducted a search warrant Friday morning at a residence on Ocean Breeze Avenue.

The following was found:

  • 9mm handgun
  • 3.78 ounces of cocaine
  • 13.95 ounces of marijuana
  • Two vials of anabolic steroids (testosterone – Schedule III Controlled Substance)
  • $816 worth of suspected drug proceeds
  • Digital scale

Man arrested for trafficking fentanyl   

A 60-year-old former law enforcement officer was arrested Friday on drug charges.

David Allen Disgdiertt of Homestead, Florida was charged with trafficking fentanyl, sale of a synthetic narcotic, and the use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives with the Special Investigations Division previously received information that Disgdiertt was selling fentanyl in Monroe County. They observed Disgdiertt conducting a drug transaction in Tavernier. Detectives stopped him as he was driving away.

Approximately five grams of fentanyl and $1,062 worth of suspected drug proceeds were found in Disgdiertt’s vehicle.
