Man arrested for throwing firework/smoke device into business

A 35-year-old Key West, Florida man was arrested Monday after tossing a smoke-style firework into a Stock Island pharmacy. There were no injuries reported.

Deni Noa Betancourt was charged with disturbing the peace and possession of cocaine.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the CVS Pharmacy at approximately 2:13 p.m. The store manager stated the suspect, later identified as Noa Betancourt, threw the smoke device through the front entrance doors before leaving on a bicycle. Security video corroborated the incident.

Noa Betancourt was found and arrested shortly thereafter. He admitted to the incident, describing it as a “prank.” He was also in possession of approximately .8 grams of cocaine.
