Man arrested for threats at bar

A 38-year-old Marathon man was arrested early Tuesday for DUI and threatening to shoot patrons and employees at a bar.

Lyle Wesley Cameron was charged with DUI, DUI/third violation in 10 years, assault, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana.

Deputy Connor O’Neill was called to the Brass Monkey bar at approximately 1:39 a.m. regarding a disturbance. Employees and witnesses at the bar stated Cameron was pushing patrons and breaking bottles when he was asked to leave. Cameron stated he was going to get his gun and shoot everyone in the bar. He then slammed the door while exiting, causing approximately $1,000 in damage to the door.

Cameron left in a black pickup truck later recognized by Deputy Corbin Hradecky from Cameron’s previous encounters with law enforcement.  Cameron was stopped on U.S. 1 shortly thereafter. He appeared heavily intoxicated and had trouble standing.

Cameron has five previous DUIs with this instance being the third in a 10-year period.

About 3.2 grams of marijuana were found in the pickup truck. There were no weapons found.

Cameron was taken to jail.

Women arrested for heroin/fentanyl possession

A woman and her adult daughter were arrested Monday night after both were found to be in possession of heroin and fentanyl following a traffic stop.

Arika Lee Steigerwald, 54 of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Ferris Nadene Emerich, 33, of Melbourne, Florida were both charged with possession of heroin, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Corbin Hradecky stopped a Hyundai driven by Emerich at approximately 10:55 p.m. near 109th Street and 1st Avenue in Marathon after observing the Hyundai drive through several stop signs.

Deputy Hradecky noticed a straw and tin foil — items commonly used to consume narcotics — at the driver’s, Emerich, feet. Deputy Hradecky identified the passenger as Steigerwald. Both initially denied possessing drugs. Deputy Hradecky observed Emerich’s two small children, a 7-month-old and 3-year-old, in the rear passenger seats. Another family member was called to care for the children.

A search determined Emerich to be in possession of .4 grams of fentanyl, 1.5 grams of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Steigerwald was found to be in possession of .9 grams of fentanyl, 2.2 grams of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Both women were taken to jail.
