Man arrested for theft

A 61-year-old Little Torch Key, Florida man was arrested Friday for attempting to steal nearly $1,200 worth of power tools from the Home Depot in Marathon.

Jesus Araujo was charged with grand theft.

Araujo walked out of the store with numerous power tools at approximately 11:51 a.m. and failed to pay. A description of the suspect, later identified of Araujo, and his vehicle was given to the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect vehicle was spotted and stopped on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 34 shortly thereafter.

Araujo was taken into custody and the tools were recovered.
