Man arrested for robbery

A 50-year-old homeless man was arrested Monday after robbing a man in the Marathon Publix parking lot, only to be tackled and restrained by the victim.

Troy Scott was charged with robbery.

There were no serious injuries reported.

Multiple Deputies and a Detective responded to the grocery store at approximately 11:08 a.m. The 53-year-old victim stated he was leaving the Publix when a man, later identified as Scott, asked him for $10. The victim ignored the request. Scott then grabbed an envelope he was carrying containing $500 and ran off. The victim gave chase and tackled Scott in the Kmart parking lot. The victim recovered all his money.

Several witnesses corroborated the victim’s version of events.

Scott remained on scene when Deputies arrived. Scott admitted to robbing the victim.
