Police have made an arrest of a Key West man suspected of multiple burglaries. Pablo Sanchez, 30, was known to have several warrants for his arrest when, early Monday morning, a Key West Police Officer spotted Sanchez riding a bike on Washington Street where much of the recent suspicious activity had occurred. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, Sanchez fled on the bike, crashed, and continued to flee on foot. He eluded capture, but police found an iPhone, a baggie containing methamphetamine, and a screwdriver.
The following afternoon, detectives spotted Sanchez and contacted patrol officers. Sanchez fled through the George Allen Housing complex. Police set up a perimeter, boxing Sanchez in until he was surrounded. He continued to attempt to flee and was finally stopped with a Taser.
Sanchez was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center where he faces six felony and two misdemeanor charges. The case remains under investigation and there are likely more charges pending.
