Man arrested for making threats

A 44-year-old Big Coppitt Key man was arrested Sunday for threatening to shoot multiple people. There were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Jason Taylor was charged with aggravated assault and battery.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on Big Coppitt Key at approximately 9:10 p.m. regarding a dispute. Multiple witnesses stated Taylor pushed a 49-year-old male victim who was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island. 

Witnesses/victims stated Taylor said he was going to retrieve a gun and shoot those present. They stated Taylor left, returned, and made similar threats again.

Taylor was found driving on U.S. 1. and arrested.

Two arrested following stolen golf cart incident 

A man and his sister were arrested for resisting arrest after taking a golf cart on Sunday at a Key Largo resort. There were no serious injuries reported. 

Sandro Monzon, 38, of Princeton, Florida, and Sonia Monzon, 40, of Miami, Florida, were both charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, grand theft, and resisting arrest.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to the Reefhouse Resort & Marina at approximately 6:30 p.m. regarding a stolen golf cart. While Deputies were gathering information, the two suspects, identified as Sandro and Sonia Monzon, returned. Sonia Monzon admitted to taking the golf cart.

She began to resist, yell, and refuse commands. Sandro Monzon also became combative during the incident. Sonia Monzon kicked one Deputy while they were attempting to place both suspects in a patrol vehicle.
