Man arrested for lobster violations

A 34-year-old Jacksonville, Florida man was arrested Monday for multiple lobster violations, including possession of 28 out-of-season lobsters.  

Luis Miguel Blett Sanchez was charged with possession of out-of-season lobster, possession of over-the-limit lobsters, possession of undersized lobster, possession of speared lobster, possession of wrung lobsters, and having no measuring device. 

Blett Sanchez was diving with a speargun when he was stopped by Middle Keys Marine Deputy Willie Guerra near the Channel Five Bridge. Blett Sanchez was found to be in possession of 28 lobsters, 18 of which were undersized. 

He was taken to jail.

Two different motorists arrested Tuesday in separate fleeing incidents on U.S. 1  

• A 54-year-old Holly, Michigan man was arrested following an incident that began at approximately 12:15 a.m.

Dennis Vincent Mickevicius was charged with fleeing and eluding and reckless driving. 

Mickevicius was speeding in a mini-van northbound on U.S. 1 in Marathon while flashing its headlights at other vehicles at approximately 12:15 a.m. Mickevicius failed to stop, turned on the vehicle’s hazard lights, and began to fluctuate his speed between 70 mph and 55 mph.

At one point, Mickevicius stuck his hands out the window before stopping near Mile Marker 68. He was taken to jail without further incident.

• A 50-year-old Boynton Beach, Florida man was arrested Tuesday following an incident that began at approximately 3:23 a.m.

Miguel Angel Hernandez-Guzman was charged with reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, DUI, driving with a revoked driver’s license/habitual offender, and possession of marijuana.

The Sheriff’s Office received information at approximately 3:23 a.m. of a reckless pickup truck traveling northbound near Mile Marker 68. The truck reportedly forced other vehicles off the road. The driver, later identified as Hernandez-Guzman, did not stop for Deputies and passed in no-passing zones, drove on the shoulder, on the bike lane, and into on-coming traffic. 

The truck’s tires were successfully spiked at the Snake Creek Bridge and it stopped near Mile Marker 87. Hernandez-Guzman was taken to jail without further incident.
