Man arrested for incident at Stock Island hotel

 

A 49-year-old Voorhees, New Jersey man was arrested Sunday night for choking a woman at Stock Island hotel bar and then ignoring Deputy commands.

 

Mark Anthony Andrews was charged with domestic battery, battery on an officer and resisting arrest.

 

Deputies Michael Watkins and Thomas Laffan were called to the Perry Hotel, 7001 Shrimp Road, at 8:55 p.m. regarding a domestic incident. They went to a bar there were the bartender reported that Andrews yelled at a female at the bar, put both his hands around her neck and was strangling her until others at the bar intervened.

 

Deputy Watkins spoke to the female, who stated she and Andrews had been drinking on a party boat that day and an argument ensued over whether to get something to eat or turn in for the night.

 

Deputy Watkins later found Andrews walking around the hotel stating, “Where is she?”

 

Andrews refused to comply with Deputy Watkins orders to stop walking and speak to him. Andrews pushed Deputy Watkins backward. Deputy Laffan arrived and both put Andrews on the ground where he continued to resist.

 

Andrews was placed in handcuffs.

 

Andrews was taken to jail.
