Man arrested for fleeing on U.S. 1

A 28-year-old Miami man was arrested Thursday night for fleeing from a Deputy on U.S. 1.

Daniel Oghenerobo was charged with fleeing and eluding.

Deputy Joel Torres observed a northbound black Mercedes speeding near Mile Marker 102 at approximately 10:39 p.m. Deputy Torres activated his lights and siren and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Deputy Torres observed the Mercedes speed away from him two different times, reaching speeds of 90 mph.

The Mercedes finally stopped at Mile Marker 106. The driver, identified as Oghenerobo, stated he didn’t think Deputy Torres was trying to stop him, adding that he was attempting to “lead the way,” for Deputy Torres.

Oghenerobo was taken to jail.

Man arrested on gun/drug charges

A 22-year-old Spring Hill, Florida man was arrested Thursday night for possessing marijuana and a handgun.

Kaylyl Dajuan Headen was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm while impaired, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Deputy Brandon White conducted a traffic stop near Mile Marker 28 at approximately 9:52 p.m. after observing a vehicle speeding. There was a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The passenger, later identified as Headen, was making strange movements near his seat and floorboard. Deputy White asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and Headen displayed a bag of marijuana.

A loaded 9mm handgun, a scale and nearly an ounce of marijuana were subsequently found in the vehicle as well as $1,100 cash in Headen’s possession. Headen admitted that the firearm, drugs and drug paraphernalia belonged to him.

Headen was taken to jail.
