Man arrested for chasing woman with machete

A 48-year-old Big Pine Key man armed with machete was arrested Wednesday afternoon after chasing a woman off his property.

Michael Tucker was charged with aggravated assault.

There were no reported injuries.

Deputies responded to an armed suspicious person call at Breezy Pines RV Estates at approximately 2 p.m. The caller reported seeing a man armed with a machete yelling and chasing a woman. Deputies located the reporting person sitting with another man identified as Tucker.

Tucker stated he had been drinking and appeared intoxicated. Tucker stated he recently broke up with his girlfriend who had been staying with him at the residence. Tucker stated they were arguing when a friend of this former girlfriend arrived. Tucker admitted to chasing the arriving female off his property with a machete.

Both women were located nearby and stated the same.

A machete was found on Tucker’s property.

Tucker was taken to jail.
