Man arrested for burglary/threatening deputy

A 37-year-old Marathon man was arrested Thursday afternoon for climbing through a woman’s bathroom window to retrieve a phone charger and threatening a deputy while en route to jail.

Ronald Wayne Crosby was charged with burglary, larceny and making threatening statements to a law enforcement officer.

Middle Keys Deputy Corbin Hradecky was first called to a house on 239th Street at 1:47 p.m. regarding a burglary that already occurred. Deputy Hradecky arrived to find a woman who stated someone had entered her residence through a bathroom window. She was stated she didn’t know if anything was missing, but that she was in fear. Deputy Hradecky was called back to the residence at 6:17 p.m. whereupon he met the same woman who sated that she spoke with Crosby, who is apparently known to her, and that he told her he climbed through her bathroom window to retrieve his phone charger. The woman stated Crosby became irate and accused her of “ratting” him out to law enforcement. The woman stated she was in fear of her life and believed Crosby would harm her.

The woman stated Crosby left the phone charger on her back porch the previous night. She stated she grabbed it with all the other cords and took them inside. She repeatedly stated she did not give Crosby permission to enter her home unannounced. She added that while checking her home she noticed three beers missing from her refrigerator and that she wished to press charges.

Crosby admitted to entering the house to retrieve his phone charger.

Crosby made multiple statements while en route to jail about how “ridiculous” it was to be arrested for retrieving a phone charger and taking beers. Crosby stated he would blacken Deputy Hradecky’s eyes when he was released from jail.

Crosby was booked into jail.
