Man arrested for biting Deputy

A 64-year-old homeless Marathon man was arrested Tuesday morning for biting a Deputy who found him lying near the roadway.

Michael Edward Girardin was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.

Deputies Daniel Valdes and Vincent Torres found Girardin nearly in the roadway on the northbound shoulder of U.S. 1 about 11 a.m. A caller stated a man was falling down near the road and they were afraid he would be struck.

Girardin  appeared very intoxicated and was unable to keep his balance when awoken. He was placed in protective custody.

While at jail, Girardin bit Deputy Valdes in the hand.

Girardin was booked into jail.
