Man arrested for biting another man

A 62-year-old homeless man was arrested Sunday morning after biting a man twice.

Michael Francis Arena was charged with aggravated battery.

Deputy Freddy Rodriguez and Sgt. Evan Calhoun were called to Ventana Lane on Big Coppitt Key about 11 a.m. regarding a man who was bitten during a fight. He arrived to find Arena  and the victim still on the scene. The victim stated he, his friend and Arena were outside in the victim’s yard. Arena was trying to sell the victim a Rolex® watch. The victim’s friend wearing a Rolex® watch, so the victim asked to compare the two. The victim’s friend told the victim that Arena’s watch was too small and light, suggesting it was a fake.

Arena had both watches and when it was time to return the real Rolex®, the victim felt Arena was attempting to switch the watches. The victim went to grab the real watch, but Arena would not let go. Arena then bit the victim in the right forearm, which caused his arm to bleed profusely. Arena then threw the victim to the ground and continued fighting with him. Arena then bit the victim on his left arm/shoulder. The victim had teeth imprints and bruising consistent with being bitten.

Arena was taken to jail.
