Man arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer

A 32-year-old Homestead, Florida man was arrested Saturday in Key Largo for battery on a law enforcement officer. There were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Domanic Ocasio was also charged with resisting arrest with violence, and domestic battery.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to Lignumvitae Drive at approximately 5 p.m. regarding a male — later identified as Ocasio — attacking a female. Three witnesses stated Ocasio chased the victim, threw her to the ground, and choked her.

Ocasio kicked and pushed Deputies while also refusing to enter a patrol vehicle.

Woman arrested after drive-thru incident

A 19-year-old Homestead, Florida woman, was arrested Saturday in Key Largo for grabbing another woman’s cell phone.

Emmonie LaShawn King was charged with burglary with battery, and robbery by sudden snatching.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to McDonald’s near Mile Marker 100 at approximately 11 p.m. King, an employee, became upset with three drive-thru customers. King reached into the vehicle grabbing the victim’s phone out of her hand while she was recording. That victim and another person in the car suffered minor scratches to their hands. The incident was captured by the cell phone. King was taken to jail.
