Man arrested for battery/DUI

A Key West, Florida man was arrested for battery on an adult female and child neglect as well as DUI on Friday. There were no serious injuries reported.

Vaughn Luther Key Willis was also charged with kidnapping/false imprisonment.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on Big Coppitt Key, Florida at approximately 12:35 a.m. where Willis pushed and restrained a 35-year-old female victim, refused to let her leave, or access her phone. Meanwhile, Willis left two children, ages 8 and 9, unattended at a residence in Key West, Florida.

The children were subsequently placed in the care of a family member.

Willis was stopped by the Sheriff’s Office southbound on U.S. 1 heading toward Key West, Florida, detained for DUI and taken to jail.
