Man arrested for battery and child abuse

 A 30-year-old Stock Island man was arrested early Wednesday morning hitting his girlfriend and grabbing a child.

Jose Danilo Lopez Mendez was charged with two counts of battery and child abuse without great bodily harm.

Deputies Zachary Easton and Michael Watkins responded to a battery call on the 5000 block of Robyn Lane on Stock Island about 12 a.m.

They found Mendez in a car outside. Mendez stated there were no problems. A 28-year-old female was found on the porch. She stated Mendez came home drunk, grabbed her hair, yanked her to the floor and hit her in the face. She was bleeding from a wound above her eye. A 11-year-old girl in the residence gave the same version of events. The juvenile also stated that Mendez grabbed her arm and twisted it. The other victim confirmed that Mendez grabbed the juvenile.

Blood was found on the floor inside the residence.

The adult victim was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center. The juvenile declined medical attention.

Mendez was taken to jail.
