Man arrested for battery

A 56-year-old Melbourne, Florida man was arrested early Saturday morning for attacking two people.

Karl Michael Lambert was charged with aggravated battery and damage to property.

The two victims were taken to Lower Keys Medical Center with cuts and bruises, but no life-threatening injuries.

Lower Keys Deputies Ty Torres and Denise Dery were called to 2 Calle Uno Drive at 3:19 a.m. regarding a battery. Deputy Torres arrived to find one of the victims stating that he, the other victim and Lambert had all previously been drinking on Duval Street. The two victims decided to back to Calle Uno Drive, there they had and RV, at some point and left Lambert downtown. The first victim stated he awoke to find Lambert screaming outside. When he stepped outside, Lambert struck him in the head with a construction level, causing injuries to his head as well as his thumb when he blocked the second swing.

Deputy Dery spoke to the second victim. The second victim stated he was sleeping in his Chevrolet Trailblazer parked at the same property when Lambert opened the door, yelled obscenities and struck him with a blunt object that he described as a bat. The second victim stated he was hit twice before he ran away. The second victim stated he looked back to see Lambert smashing the rear windows of his Trailblazer. The second victim suffered injuries to his arm in the incident.

A 5-foot construction level that was bent in the middle was found at the scene as well as a bat or ax handle. Both had what appeared to be dried blood on them.

Lambert was taken to jail.
