Man arrested after fleeing on U.S. 1

A 33-year-old Miami-Dade County man was arrested in Florida City Wednesday after recklessly passing a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on the 18-Mile Stretch and then fleeing.

Law enforcement partners in Miami-Dade County charged Emmanuel Almosa with fleeing and eluding and reckless driving.

Almosa was speeding in a Toyota Camry at approximately 6:09 p.m. when he illegally passed a northbound Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy near Mile Marker 121 on U.S. 1. Almosa did not stop and continued northbound into Florida City.

Law enforcement partners in Miami-Dade County joined the pursuit. Almosa eventually stopped near E. Mowry Drive and SE 6th Avenue in Homestead after multiple law enforcement officers converged on his location.

He was taken to jail in Miami-Dade County.


Man arrested for fentanyl trafficking

A 40-year-old Key West man was arrested Wednesday for trafficking in fentanyl.

Roberto Carlos Llompart was also charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Llompart was stopped on Boca Chica Road at approximately 5:08 p.m. as his vehicle matched the description of a suspect’s vehicle who was involved in an earlier domestic incident.

Llompart agreed to a search of the car and the following was found:

  • Approximately 5.2 total grams of fentanyl
  • $1,164 in cash
  • Multiple baggies that contained the fentanyl
  • A credit card containing cocaine residue

Llompart was taken to jail.
