Man arrested after fleeing from Deputies

A 43-year-old Big Pine Key man was arrested early Tuesday morning after fleeing from Deputies.

Shanon Lee Springer was charged with DUI, fleeing and eluding, operating a vehicle with revoked/suspended license and resisting arrest.

Deputy Brandon White responded to a suspicious person call at approximately 4:23 a.m. on Barry Lane on Little Torch Key. There he found Springer behind the wheel of a Lincoln Town Car. The Lincoln was blocking traffic. Springer is known to Deputies from previous law enforcement encounters. Deputy White informed Springer that he knows he’s not supposed to be driving as his license was suspended. Springer then sped away and turned southbound on U.S. 1.

Deputy White followed, but then stopped the pursuit for public safety reasons. Springer was seen near Mile Marker 15 and he again refused to stop. Spikes were successfully deployed shortly thereafter, but Springer continued driving into Key West on rims before finally stopping at the Circle K at North Roosevelt Boulevard and Kennedy Drive. Springer was taken into custody without incident with help from Key West Police Officers.

Springer was taken to jail.
