Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant Announces Move to New Location

Lucy’s Key West is Relocating to 221 Duval Street in Time for Fantasy Fest

(NEW ORLEANS) – September 24, 2018 – Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant (Lucy’s), the beloved surfer-inspired bar & restaurant, today revealed plans to move its Key West restaurant to 221 Duval Street, a few blocks from the original home on Grinnell Street. The Duval Street location is set to open around Fantasy Fest.

Situated on the lively 200th block of Key West’s Duval Street, the new space is larger than Lucy’s previous home at 5,500 square feet and features a spacious dining room, large outdoor patio, front porch, and second-floor balcony and bar. Overall, the new setting provides a better layout and ambiance to accommodate customers.

The venue will feature a new look designed by Gravity Architecture & Design, LLC of Orlando, Florida. A courtyard patio and private event space are a couple of the extensive upgrades and renovations planned to the new location on Duval.

Lucy’s debut in 2016 on the corner of Grinnell and James Street garnered local support and rave reviews.

“There’s a lot of sentimentality surrounding our original location, but we’ll still be serving up the same delicious food and drinks locals and visitors have grown to know and love,” said Lucy’s Director of Operations Jamie Munoz, “We are deeply grateful to the Key West community and Old Town neighborhood and look forward to the next chapter.”

Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant got its start in New York City on the Upper West Side in 1985. That location, which remained open for a decade, became a favorite for celebrities such as David Letterman, Tom Cruise, and the Wolves of Wall Street, among countless others.

In 1992, Lucy’s debuted in New Orleans’ iconic Warehouse District, becoming a mainstay in city nightlife. In 2016, Lucy’s looked further south to Key West, FL to open its second location. The bar & restaurant has since opened locations abroad in Aruba and Costa Rica.

Lucy’s move to 221 Duval Street will feature familiar menus, hours, and employees.

“We’re still the same Lucy’s our loyal customers have known,” said Jamie Munoz, “We hope our guests are as excited as we are for this transition that will help Lucy’s live on for many years to come.”
