Lt. Butler Honored for 20 YOS

City Manager Al Childress; Commissioners Lissette Carey and Jimmy Weekley; Mayor Teri Johnston, Lt. Colton Butler; Vice Mayor Sam Kaufman; and Commissioner Billy Wardlow. Commissioners Mary Lou Hoover and Clayton Lopez were in attendance via Zoom.

During Thursday’s City Commission meeting, Human Resources Director Bridget Flores honored several employees for their years of service, including Key West Fire Lt. Colton Butler. Butler has served the City for 20 years.

Butler was born and raised in Key West and comes from a long line of a well-respected Key West family.

Butler is a dive leader for the Key West Fire Department Dive Team and was instrumental in expanding the training program for the team and implementing new state-of-the-art equipment for shipboard fire rescues.

He is a member of the Department’s Urban Search and Rescue team, focusing on rescue operations resulting from damaged or collapsed buildings.

“I was told he is the best dressed on the Key West Fire Department’s softball team,” quipped Flores.

Outside of his duties with the fire department, Butler is a devoted father of two beautiful daughters, one of whom has set a path to attend the University of Florida.

“Lt. Butler is a dedicated member of the Key West Fire Department,” said Flores. “We are all so proud to congratulate him on 20 years of service.”
