LOWER KEYS MEDICAL CENTER IMPLEMENTS NEW VISITATION PROTOCOLS

Key West, FL – March 17, 2020 – Lower Keys Medical Center continually works to be prepared for all types of infectious diseases such as measles, flu, or new viruses like coronavirus (COVID-19). We are taking proactive steps to prepare for the protection of patients, our caregivers and the community, and monitoring ongoing COVID-19 updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). To that effect, the hospital has implemented modified visitor protocols to protect our patients and caregiving teams. These include: reducing entrances to the main lobby and the emergency room; posting signage and verbally screening visitors, informing those with fever or respiratory symptoms that they may not visit patients; limiting visitors to no more than two, ages 17 and older, per patient at any given time; and not permitting children to visit. Visitation is temporarily suspended for behavioral health patients. Visitor restrictions are effective beginning March 18, 2020, and until further notice. Visiting hours are between 7 am and 7 pm.
