Love Cheeky Key West Apothecary, created by Erin McKenna, is a body care company that specializes in serums, sprays, and body butters that are crafted from high quality ingredients and essential oils. Oh, and not only are they good for your skin, but they smell great too! Being a massage therapist, McKenna always found herself dabbling in essential oils, and she loves natural body products. In McKenna’s words, “All products are created intuitively relying on my senses, your needs and some fine-tuned proper chemistry, of course!” Her shop can be found online at lovecheekykw.com

Fortunately for McKenna, and ironically enough, she began experimenting with the production of a hand sanitizer before the pandemic, as well as a body balm and a face serum. The hand sanitizer was McKenna’s first big hit, as it was super timely, since she finished crafting the product in October of 2020. Once the pandemic happened, McKenna was getting endless calls from so many people for her hand sanitizer, and was extremely successful in her sales. After her triumph with her hand sanitizer, McKenna created her next product. While massaging on the beach, because it gets so hot, McKenna tends to put peppermint oil on the back of her neck to feel relief. She realized that she could make a product out of the idea, and thus created her “Cooling Mist”, which is described as AC in a bottle, something we could all use in this heat. Next up she crafted her “Multi Masker” Mask Refresher, which of course is also timely, and multi-purpose! Not only can it provide mask-wearers with a midday refresher for their mouth cover, but can also be used as a body, linen, or room spray, thanks to its notes of lemongrass, peppermint, and rosemary.

McKenna’s business continued to boom, and as of now, she has a line of five products, all of which can be used for multiple purposes. The brand has a very modern, yet vintage aesthetic, and McKenna is able to achieve this vibe through the careful branding of her products. When talking about the look of the products, McKenna states, “Originally I ordered a bunch of vintage postcards on eBay, and on them I write a personal note to a customer who made an order, I include vintage handkerchiefs, as well as custom bookmarks with my logo on them. I wrap each order in a burlap sack, so the customer can reuse the packaging.” She follows up explaining how her orders have a very modern feel, with that special vintage twist.

As of recent, McKenna is working to think up a new product idea. She has an after-sun product in the works, one that tanners can use to treat their skin after soaking up the sun. The potential product will feature aloe, as well as lavender and mint essential oils, in order to properly soothe the skin. We are excited by McKenna’s business, and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
